About Charter Index

Charter Index has been supplying the luxury yacht charter Central Agency and Charter Brokerage industry with consolidated data services since the charter industry was born in the early 1980s.

Initially, we were the exclusive worldwide business to business suppliers of yacht data (in hard copy form) between Central Agents and retail Charter Brokers and our US based company and product was called the 'CDI Guide - Charter Databank International'.   In 2002, CDI was acquired by UK based Charter Index Ltd which rapidly migrated the print product to a state of the art online platform - with a variety of additional fleet management services being developed fast.  The print product was withdrawn in 2016.

These days our company provides a range of industry products including, in addition to our sophisticated searchable database of the entire world's fleet of charter vessels, Central Agency and Broker enquiry, reservations and charter booking management systems, 'broker branded' yacht databases and emailable branded and white label yacht reports, fully developed API systems enabling vendors to customize their own retail and customer facing online systems - and a consumer facing enquiry generating system of our own.  Our revenue streams are derived from listings, subscriptions, data provision and referral fees.

We believe Charter Index can continue to grow and supply additional economic opportunity for every member of the luxury yacht charter industry.

We continue to refine and expand our offerings to the industry, which is itself expanding, and are committed to enabling all companies within it to compete on a level and ethical playing field.

The Web Apps we supply have been custom built by our own in-house developers for specific purposes and are not simply 'repackaged' off the shelf Content Management Systems.

The luxury yacht charter industry is a highly specialised marketplace. Every one of our extensive  applications had to be built from the ground up, in order to properly identify the necessary services and requirements of our users.

We are privileged to deal with Charter Brokerages and Central Agents from all over the world. They use our systems and services as toolkits and routines, on a daily basis, to keep their data current and to obtain curated yacht reports and editorial content for onward supply to potential charter clients.

We regularly attend industry events and shows where we have a chance to discuss our company's direction and the services being supplied, in order to build out our software development pipeline and to ensure we are providing the best possible services that we can, to our customers and users.
